Gretchen Elias, Senior Program Officer, Europe & Euraisa

Gretchen Elias joined ISC in January of 2004. As senior program officer, she provides program and logistical support to ISC's civil society programs. She also coordinates monitoring and evaluation for ISC's international programs and serves as a resource on gender issues.
Previously, Elias served as a technical advisor to the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina on gender issues, and a consultant to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on women's entrepreneurship in transition countries. She also has extensive experience, including grantwriting and direct service provision, with Vermont community-based organizations, and served on the board of the People's Health and Wellness Clinic in Barre, Vermont.
Elias has a B.A. in Sociology from Middlebury College with concentrations in Women's Studies and German; and a master's in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University with a concentration in International Development. She is fluent in German, proficient in French, and conversant in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian.
