Matthew DeGroot, Program Director - Asiaback to staff list
As Program Director - Asia, Matthew DeGroot serves as point person for ISC's extensive portfolio of environmental programs in the region. He began his career as a management consultant to Fortune 100 firms, specializing in the development of custom software systems that streamlined global sourcing operations and helped his clients realize millions of dollars in savings. He brings a decade of supply chain expertise to his oversight of ISC's network of Environment, Health and Safety Academies in Asia, designed to build the capacity of manufacturers across the continent to improve their compliance with EHS standards. He has previously managed ISC projects and activities around the world that tackled a variety of issues ranging from information technology to training & organizational capacity building, civic participation in elections to environmental health.
DeGroot has long had a specialized focus on knowledge management and technology integration, and has spearheaded the development and implementation of many of ISC's internal technical systems. He also develops tools and training programs that enable ISC's partners and beneficiaries to achieve greater productivity and impact. DeGroot has lived in Central Asia and is conversant in Russian, reads French, and is familiar with elementary Kazakh and Mandarin Chinese. He holds an MA in International Affairs with a concentration in business management from Indiana University.
