Environmental sustainability in post-disaster redevelopment was at the center of the exchange, which also included wide ranging discussions about the role of civil society organizations in the rebuilding process. The Gulf Coast delegation included representatives from local government, philanthropy, community-based organizations, and universitiesall from some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Eco Movement is the first grassroots, community-based network in Kosovo that can address environmental issues and challenges on a national level. Utilizing hands-on approaches such as park and river clean-ups, as well as hiking and cycling tours that promote alternatives to automobiles, the network is helping ordinary citizens see the local, tangible impacts of their environmental protection efforts.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recently released its latest NGO Sustainability Index for Central & Eastern Europe and Eurasia, the 13th edition of the report. For the Serbia section, ISCbased on our history building Serbia's Civil Society sectorconducted interviews, collected data, and wrote reports complete with analysis and scores, all of which informed the final index.
07.15.2010 ISC hosts two Climate Leadership Academies on Low Carbon City Planning and Development in China
ISC held its first two Climate Leadership Academies in China this July, one in each of the countrys most industrialized provinces, Guangdong and Jiangsu. The trainings, organized in the cities of Guangzhou (July 8-10) and Nanjing (July 13-14), focused on low carbon city planning and development.

ISC has signed on to InterAction's policy paper that outlines key recommendations from U.S.-based international NGOs (nonprofits) on each of the eight Millennium Development Goals.
